January 8, 2025 – Upchurch Watson White & Max Mediation Group proudly announces that three members of its South Florida panel — Barry L. Davis, Charles M. "Charlie" Greene and Scott R. Schomber—have earned induction into the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (NADN). This honor acknowledges their expertise, professionalism and exceptional contributions to alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

  • Mr. Davis is a results-driven mediator with decades of experience litigating and serving as lead trial counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants in complex disputes. His expertise spans construction and commercial disputes, insurance coverage and bad faith cases, as well as high-profile personal injury and wrongful death matters. Mr. Davis’ ability to navigate intricate cases and his dedication to fostering resolution have earned him an enviable reputation in ADR.
  • Mr. Greene joined Upchurch Watson White & Max in 2023 after retiring as a circuit judge with over 32 years on the bench. Most recently, he served as the administrative judge of the probate and guardianship division for Florida’s 17th Judicial Circuit. Before that, he presided over lengthy and complex trials in the complex civil litigation division. His deep understanding of complex legal issues makes him an invaluable asset to the mediation process.
  • Mr. Schomber moved his mediation practice to UWWM in 2022 after founding an independent mediation firm in 2016. Through the years, Mr. Schomber honed his dispute-resolution philosophies, built on decades of experience as a civil trial lawyer. He is known for his pragmatic approach and commitment to finding common ground in a wide range of practice areas.

NADN’s induction process is highly selective. As Executive Director Darren Lee explains, “In total, we reviewed peer nominations and unsolicited applications for over 600 neutrals since the summer, which we narrowed down to just over 200 that appear to meet NADN's practice requirements. A majority of these were nominated or seconded by current members and provided application materials before our Nov. 15 deadline. Following due-diligence client interviews completed by my team, we consulted with our local state committee members and arrived at the names …,” all of whom are found to meet NADN's strict ADR practice benchmarks.

In 2024, UWWM’s Karen A. Brimmer and Frederick J. Lauten were inducted into NADN. These recognitions reinforce mediators’ standing as leaders in their field.
