Michael S. Orfinger, principal with Upchurch Watson White and Max Mediation Group, has been inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Court-Appointed Masters (ACAM).
ACAM is the only national organization for special masters. Comprised of some 83 members, the selective organization is limited to those who have been appointed by federal and state courts to serve as special masters or magistrates. ACAM members serve as judicial adjuncts in a wide variety of complex cases such as mass torts, class actions, securities and antitrust cases, performing major functions in the civil justice system. Their role in the judicial system has become more important as cases have become more complex and judicial budgets have tightened.
Mr. Orfinger, an attorney since 1989, concentrates his practice exclusively on alternative dispute resolution. He, along with fellow ACAM members John Upchurch and Howard Marsee, also with Upchurch Watson White & Max, will attend ACAM’s annual meeting and educational conference in January 2010 in Phoenix, Arizona.
