About

Robert L. Johnson brings four decades of legal experience to his role as a mediator at Upchurch Watson White & Max. He is highly regarded for his dedication to achieving equitable resolutions in complex disputes.

Robert began his legal career in 1985 after earning his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law in 1984. He spent over a decade as a prosecutor with the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, gaining extensive courtroom experience. He tried more than 100 cases to verdict, which included high-profile capital first-degree murder, vehicular homicide and capital sexual battery cases. Subsequently, he joined Sellars, Marion & Bachi, PA, where he became a partner in 1998. He focused on personal injury defense cases, building a reputation for strategic and compassionate representation.

Robert handled a wide variety of civil litigation matters over his 40-year career. In addition to defending clients in personal injury and wrongful death actions, he also represented injured parties and devoted significant time to litigating their cases as well as contractual and commercial matters. He focused his practice on litigating all forms of serious personal injury, brain injury and wrongful death claims and all types of insurance-related matters.

Throughout his career, Robert has been consistently recognized for his professionalism and legal excellence. He is a five-time selectee for Super Lawyers (2021–2025) and holds Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent™ Rating, the organization’s highest peer review rating for professional excellence. Additional honors include being named among Florida Legal Elite, Best Lawyers in America, and Palm Beach Illustrated Top Lawyers.

Robert’s professional affiliations include membership in the Palm Beach County Bar Association, where he has been an active participant in the legal community.

A Florida native, Robert earned his Bachelor of Science from Florida State University in 1981. During his undergraduate years, he was recognized for academic and leadership excellence as a member of the Dean’s List, Garnet and Gold Key Honor Society, and Theta Chi fraternity.
