Pedro P. Echarte, Jr., brings significant legal experience to his role as mediator at Upchurch Watson White & Max Mediation Group. With a career spanning over four decades, including his service as a Circuit Court Judge in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, Pedro offers unmatched expertise and insight into resolving disputes effectively.
After graduating with honors from the University of Miami School of Law in 1979, Pedro began his legal career as a trial lawyer at the Office of the Public Defender in Miami-Dade County before joining the firm of Simon, Schindler & Sandberg, P.A., and later establishing his own practice, Pedro P. Echarte, Jr., P.A.
As a trial lawyer in private practice, he represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of civil litigation matters, as well as criminal defendants in both State and Federal Courts. In 1998, former Governor Lawton Chiles appointed Pedro as a Circuit Court Judge, and he served for over 26 years in Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit. During his career as both a trial lawyer and judge, Pedro tried hundreds of jury trials to verdict.
As a judge, Pedro served in the Juvenile, Criminal, Family and Civil Divisions of the Circuit Court. Due to his trial work as a lawyer and his many years on the bench, he has extensive experience in the litigation of complex legal matters including class actions, products liability, custody disputes, sovereign immunity, insurance disputes and medical malpractice.
As a former judge turned mediator, Pedro will focus his legal knowledge, understanding of jury dynamics and communication skills on assisting parties in reaching amicable solutions. His approach ensures that all sides are heard and guided toward fair and sustainable agreements.
